Gilded Age in SC

A bill in the South Carolina legislature proposes to prohibit use of U.S. currency and require only gold and silver coins. The bill’s sponsor, Republican Mike Pitts, is reportedly irate after the pop machine in the state capital building refused to accept his wrinkly, twice-washed dollar bill.

Next on the agenda is a proposal from the same sponsor to ban the use of power tools and to require instead only tools crafted from bronze.
